The Big 5...

with Lucky...

His mother gave him the name Surprise but the guests at Berg-en-Dal, a camp in the Krüger National Park, was used to call him Lucky. We learnt why one morning in October.

He began his introduction bragging modestly. Hi I am Surprise but you can just call me Lucky because everyone tends to do that when they get back to camp. Sure we´ll see if he really can deliver.

45 minutes later we had ticked the box for all of the Big 5, and that included both types of rhinos, and some running hippos. I can say that he really earned his nickname. Lucky!!!

It did start slowly. Nothing happend but then an explosion in animals.

First the coalition of male lions, check, and then the floodgate opened.

White rhino, check.
Elephants, check.
The elusive leopard, check.
Black rhino, check.
Cape buffalos, check.

45 minutes in total after leaving camp. Then we could just sit back and relax. Nothing could top this and the drive was dull after these sightings was dull.

We felt lucky to have Lucky as our guide that morning.

I actually think it was the fellow in the video that you spotted. A really nice find I must say. I think it´s interesting to see how the rhino just disappears behind the bush.
